Weather in El Nido, Palawan
The perfect time to visit El Nido is during a small window in the year when the sea is super calm it’s zen.
During the wet season from June to November, the Philippines is hit by approximately 20 typhoons.
What a bummer.
Luckily, Palawan is rarely in the course of these dreaded rainstorms.
This is why travelers usually head to the Philippines during the dry season, between December to May.
However, there’s another season to factor in, and that is the amihan season, which is the northeastern monsoon.
Amihan, which runs between November and April, brings with it fierce winds, so fierce that sometimes it makes coconut showers.
You know, coconuts falling from the sky.
During this season, kitesurfing and surfing junkies head to Duli and Sibaltan to enjoy the wild waves.
But in the west coast where the island hopping destinations are located, this poses a bit of a problem.
Actually, it almost often poses a problem: the cancellation of tours.
The waves become so big and choppy that island hopping may be dangerous.
This only happens about 20% of the time. But still, it happens.
Travelers endure hours upon hours of boredom on the plane just to get to El Nido, and then this? You gotta be kidding me.
